Together, our hands are expressing the very heart of God, revealing His love to those in need.
When disasters strike, together, we are there … providing water, food, medicine, hygiene kits and more in the name of Jesus. In the midst of disease, poverty and devastation, you show up with life-saving medical equipment and supplies.
Through prayers and strong support, a powerful message is sent to every person we reach. It’s a message of hope … compassion … and the tremendous love of Christ.
This is also the message you’re sending to families in West Africa, where thousands have been suffering, even dying, in the Ebola outbreak. Because of the generosity of our donors, we recently shipped a 40-foot container filled with 40-plus pallets of desperately needed medical supplies and equipment to a hard-hit hospital in Sierra Leone.
And when the hospital staff opened the packages of isolation gowns, bandages, IV tubing, masks, gloves, towels, diapers, blood pressure cuffs, supplies in high demand, they heard you say “Jesus loves you.” Each time the self-contained scrub sinks, exam tables, hospital beds, and electronic thermometers are used, someone experiences God’s care. Because of your prayers and support.
But it doesn’t end there!
In Liberia, we’re seeing incredible progress in the fight against Ebola because of the aid that was sent…
- New cases have dropped dramatically — to 19 a day! (During the peak of the epidemic, about 100 new cases of Ebola were confirmed each day.)
- Doctors, nurses, and other health workers are no longer at risk because quality treatment facilities are now available to them.
- Liberian schools — including colleges and universities — are reopening the first week of February, after being closed for months due to the outbreak.
- 1,312 people — including 345 children, many of whom are orphans — have survived the disease.
And you’re sharing God’s love in the Philippines, as well. Not only did you reach out last year when Typhoon Haiyan killed 22,000 people, injured countless others, and laid waste to homes and businesses … but you’ve reached out again today in the midst of a new crisis: Cyclone Hagupit.
Many families were once again left without a home, hungry and hurting, yet you’re providing them shelter, sending food, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, all of which are displaying God’s love to those who desperately need to feel His care. In fact, through International Aid and our donors, shelter will be provided to over 100 families who were affected by the recent storms, by helping them rebuild and giving them a place to call home again.
You may be wondering how YOU are showing up in these places and helping those in need, but it’s through your prayers and support that you are there. The cases above are just a couple of examples of how lives are being changed. There are still many more people to reach, more people who need to experience God’s love. Please continue to pray for those in need and ask God to allow your hands to express His heart for those who are hurting wherever disaster strikes: in Sierra Leone, Liberia, the Philippines, the United States, and around the world.
Together we are doing amazing things to reach the world for Christ!
