When pain is no longer an afterthought but a reality…
When the world is hurting… When it’s not just adults crying who may have “known better” but children who are innocent…
When no one is to blame and no one is in the wrong…
Responding to tragedy can be overwhelming to figure out:
- what to say
- what to NOT say
- where to give
- what to pray for
Sometimes we just don’t know what to do.
Hurricanes have been demolishing coastal towns, cities, families, and ways of life, for weeks. The after effects are hard to look at. We are all connected to the devastation that has been bringing havoc because we are all human.
We cannot simply overlook the destitute.
But how do we respond
Often we hear the phrase “all you can do is pray,” but actually prayer is one of the biggest gifts we can give to those stricken by the recent natural disasters. Prayer shows us who we are in relation to who God is. Prayer reminds us of His power. Prayer is us relying on the Creator.
We have been holding multiple Hygiene Kit Packing Events and the response we have received from the community has been amazing. The time and energy given to packing these kits is priceless and so appreciated. These kits are truly bringing small packages of hope to those in need.
Those devastated have been left with little or nothing. Anything they receive can help them on their journey to re-creating their lives. As the storms pass and new reality hits, lets help those affected, as we are able.
We are not called to fix humanity, to calm the storms, or carry the weight of what has happened on our shoulders.
We are called to trust Jesus Christ and give our best with whatever resources/platforms he has given us…all with joy.
Let’s continue uniting together as brothers and sisters and help those in need!
