Initiative: Befriend A Village

Need

International Aid's community based healthcare framework takes into account that it requires more than medicines and bandages to transform mindsets, values, and behaviors that affect health and wellbeing. Most poverty-stricken villages often have plenty of human resources. Lacking is information, know-how, supplies, and technical and financial resources.

The incidence of unintentional, non-fatal, penetrating wounds represents 45 of every 1,000 persons injured annually. A great many of those injured will die of untreated wounds or infection.

Solution

We operate a number of health clinics, but we also work with local healthcare providers and community leaders learn to equip their community to improve health and wellbeing.

Based upon the Christian principle of Help Thy Neighbor, Befriend-A-Village mission projects empower village residents--influencing faith, health and quality of life, one village at a time.

Resources, friendships and faith are built through project-specific mission funding and mission experiences.

Mission projects take a number of forms and are often designed in collaboration with mission teams to ensure appropriate skill sets and size of teams.
