The past weeks have been filled with natural disasters and we have seen the tragedy of lives ripped apart.
For many, life has not been able to “go on as normal” for a long time. Fires and hurricanes have taken routine away.
For these same people, it probably feels like life will never be the same again.
Routine has been ruined.
But there is still hope.
Hope may seem like a flippant usage of the word, as if we are trying to stick a Band-Aid to a broken leg. But regardless, hope is still available.
Hope is available because Jesus Christ is available, in all His faithfulness and love.
When normal routine has been stripped away, and all that’s left is confusion and loss, Jesus Christ remains. He is faithful. The fact is, Jesus never changes — even when the weather does.
He does not change when storms come.
He does not change when hurricanes sweep in.
He does not change when routine flees.
He does not change when life feels perfect.
He is the same yesterday…
He is all-powerful and knows exactly what each affected person is going through. He has, in love, allowed others to help those in need.
Jesus has given us each opportunity to show His faithfulness, through being faithful ourselves.
Maybe this looks like praying.
Maybe it looks like packing hygiene kits.
Maybe it looks like something unique to our own — personal gifting and talents.
But whatever it is, we are called to be like Jesus. He is faithful, and so we must also be faithful.
Faithfulness is present because Jesus is present. And where Jesus is, life has hope.
Let’s show the faithfulness of God through faithfully serving those in need. After all, we are called to love others.
What a privileged calling. What an honor. Today, let’s serve through faithfully embracing where God has us, loving those He puts in our lives, and putting our hope in the truth of His faithfulness.
