(from the desk of Tim Lopez, Communications and Marketing Manger at International Aid)
This morning in my quiet time I was lead to the passage of 2 Corinthians 9:11-15. Which reads:
You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
In this season of Thanksgiving, I can’t help but think of how blessed I am as an individual: with an amazing wife, a roof over my head, food on the table, family, friends and so much more. It also makes me think of how blessed we are as an organization. It never ceases to amazing me when I see how our donors and partners step up and help change the lives of so many in need… all around the world. I will never forget the response we received following a call to action to help those in Nepal following the devastating Earthquake. I think of the doctors from Haiti, Argentina, Liberia and other countries that I’ve had the opportunity to visit with here in our warehouses as they select equipment and resources to take to their clinics. And I think of the large groups that come each month to pack hygiene kits to send to areas without these resources! It is so inspiring to see so many give in thanksgiving to God! I was, and continue to be overwhelmed by the ongoing generosity of so many.
So when I read this passage today, International Aid came to mind and the many partners that we work with. In Ch. 9, Paul said that he had boasted about the Corinthian church to others, “telling them…that you were ready to give; and your enthusiasm stirred most of them to action.” I am so thankful for the way that God has already called so many to action alongside us here at International Aid. It is also my hope and prayer that God will use what we’ve done together, not only to transform the lives of hundreds of children and their families all around the world, but I hope that God will use it to stir the hearts and call others to action!
Two things will result from this ministry of giving and generosity—the needs of the believers all around the world will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.
I am so grateful to our partners, donors and staff for their stunning generosity. Bless each one who gives and will give, in whichever way that might be, either of their time, their talents, or their treasure—enrich them in every way for their generous hearts. And I pray that we would use what we’ve given to meet the needs of the poor and bring thanks and glory to God.
Wishing You and Yours a very Happy Thanksgiving. God Bless You
