James Bodenner
Director of Water Initiatives
Jim Bodenner serves as Director of Water Initiatives for International Aid, a leading humanitarian healthcare agency focused on disaster relief and an extensive array of development programs worldwide.
A longtime passionate advocate for bringing clean water solutions to those in need in the developing world, Bodenner joined IA in early 2006 to help shape IA’s new safe water initiative, which involves distribution of the agency’s pioneering Plastic BioSand Water Filter; a related focus on education and training; and providing prescription drugs to treat waterborne diseases. Bodenner’s responsibilities include extending and bringing IA’s broad network of current and prospective partners to bear on the global safe water crisis.
Bodenner’s involvement in the clean water arena has included work in the Dominican Republic for more than five years. His efforts have involved support for the testing and installation of more than 12,000 concrete BioSand Water Filters, there and in neighboring Haiti.
An attorney by profession, with healthcare experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Bodenner, along with his wife own Bishop Hills Elder Community and he. is deeply involved in Rotary, on both the local and international levels. Bodenner’s past community involvement includes board memberships at Guardian Angel Homes, the Hugh Michael Beahan Foundation and Visiting Nurses Association at Spectrum Health. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Ferris State University and as a consultant for Michigan-based Varnum Consulting, LLC.
Bodenner holds multiple degrees from Northern Illinois University in De Kalb, Illinois. He and his wife Susan reside in Rockford, Mich.
