A Message From Myles

May 30, 2006

When the earthquake struck the Yogyakarta area of Indonesia this holiday weekend, International Aid mobilized resources in the US and in Indonesia. Our field staff, which have been working in rebuilding the Tsunami ravaged region around Banda Aceh, immediately traveled to Yogyakarta.

While the IA team was enroute, we contacted our field partners who had hospitals and health care facilities destroyed by the earthquake. They told horrific stories of hospitals previously capable of performing 10 surgeries per day now needing to treat hundreds of patients and areas where the only medical facility was a cordoned-off street.

Their immediate request was for portable health facilities capable of meeting the basic health care needs of the injured and to help prevent the outbreak of disease amongst the 200,000 whose homes were destroyed. International Aid responded, today, by air shipping a portable medical clinic. This clinic contains most of the common items that you would find in a doctor’s office or urgent care center. It is capable of meeting the basic needs of 10,000 to 15,000 people. We anticipate that we will ship several additional clinics over the next few weeks.

There is a high demand for orthopedic products. One of our corporate partners, BD, is providing us with a large supply of Ace Bandages and other supplies. We will be working with our assessment team on the ground to further define needs and ship emergency aid as rapidly as possible.

We need your help. You can provide immediate relief through our website or by calling 1.800.251.2502.

Thank you for your support of the victims of the Indonesia earthquake through the ministry of International Aid!

In His Service,

Myles
