International Aid prides itself on bringing help to those in need, physically as well as spiritually. Sometimes the need is for both; sometimes helping one’s physical need leads to helping one spiritually.
For instance, our partnership with Cure International allows us to help disabled children in developing countries. This is a great opportunity because many children are disabled due to issues such as clubfoot, cleft palates, hydrocephalus, and other deformities.
Left without help, these children would much less of a chance of leading a normal life or having any bright future. International Aid has conducted medical equipment need assessments at our Cure hospitals in both Niger and Uganda.
Having the opportunity to provide quality equipment which brings relief to those in need, is a tremendous blessing.
We are called help the broken, not just to physically, but also spiritually by spreading the Gospel wherever we are.
More than needing physical help, disabled children in developing countries also need spiritual help. Physical healing, left alone, would only have value while the children live their lives here on earth. However, Cure does not just place an emphasis on physical healing. Cure puts an equal emphasis on spiritual healing as well.
This is the combination we seek to establish as we bring global impact to those in need.
Just as Jesus did not stop at physical healing during His time on earth, we too are called to share the Gospel with those in need. It may not always feel convenient or necessary, and it is much easier to see the fruits of physical healing right away.
But this is where trust comes in.
God brings spiritual change. It is our calling to share the Gospel, not bring the transformation. Only He can bring transformation.
We can be encouraged in these two ways:
- God calls us to use our gifts. Whether it is in donating medical equipment, using it, or praying for those in need — we can use the gifts God has given us.
- We are called to spread the Gospel, not to change lives. This takes the pressure off us, as God is the One who enacts eternal change in hearts.
